Race to witch mountain..... stuff producers.
The movie has a reasonable premise: a taxi driver suddenly gets thrust into a race against time to return 2 alien children with superpowers to their spaceship to stop an imminent invasion of earth whilst also outrunning the evil Feds and an alien Bounty Hunter.
We get some good performances from Annasophia Robb and Alexander Ludwig who play the children but the rest of the cast simply suck. it felt as if the Rock was only there for a contractual agreement with Disney and anyone could have played the female role of Dr. Alex.
The story followed common conventions (characters making decisions under pressure etc) however the writer set up a subplot involving these Gang(?) members who were bullying the Rock's character and i fully expected the movie to end with him overcoming them and therefore completing his character's journey.... DIDN'T HAPPEN!!!!!
I know as a writer that those details of the subplot wouldn't have been put in there if they were an idiot so the writers (Matt Lopez and Mark Bombak) intended to finish that little story. However i am assuming that idiot Disney Producers/MPAA people assumed that gangs were not appropriate for the story and therefore cut it. This was possibly the worst mistake for the move and it RUINED it.
I am not going to really bore you with the details of the rest of the story because there are too many holes cut out for them to even matter.
I give this movie a 4/10 and the points go to the kids (that's 2 each) they were the only thing that kept me from walking out.
